Road Trip to Texas

We were low key thrilled when Jeremiah let us know in early summer 2022 that he wanted to move home and regroup. He loved living in Texas, but wanted to be able to focus more on getting a degree and a career, so, he made a wise choice to move home and reset. Peter and I decided to make the drive together and visit some new places along the way. Because one of my bucket list items is to visit every state capitol building, we thought stops in Phoenix, Santa Fe and Oklahoma City were in order. Of course, we lived in the Phoenix area for over 5 years, but can you believe we never went to the capitol building? I know. But, this was a great opportunity to do that. It was a blast! And, really set off the exploring/traveling bug in both Peter and myself. Who knows, this blog might turn into an account of the traveling we do. Stay tuned.

Some highlights from our trip with Santa Fe's Loretto chapel, yummy New Mexican food, Oklahoma City memorial site and our favorite San Antonio beers. We will miss having a reason to visit Texas, but I know I want to go back and explore more of Austin at some point.

There are some pretty parts of AZ!  Payson.

First meal: Enchiladas for Peter and Pozole for me. Green and red sauce for NM flair.

The capitol building was closed, but I'm still counting it!

Recap: March and April 2022

It's 2022. Life is whizzing by and we want to enjoy it to the fullest. We've done everything we can to protect ourselves from Covid (and, so far, none of us have gotten it), so, all boosted up and masking, we're back out there. And, the travel bug has definitely returned to me!

March had some exciting stuff, at least for Peter and myself. We went to Austin and San Antonio and had a fantastic time. At this point, we're thinking, maybe it's not so bad having a kid in Texas after all. Nope. Still want him to come back. But, it's nice to have a reason to visit and I definitely want to return to Austin to do some of the things we didn't get around to on this trip.

Off to Austin!

In April, we visited Santa Cruz and Peter and I went to Palm Springs to visit a friend out there. We went to TWO baby showers. But, the true highlight was Jeremiah's visit over spring break.

Alayna and I are happiest in the redwoods.

We celebrated the life of one of my former "kids", who passed away in November.
