Last Day Of School

Well, the kids last day of school has come and gone. It was extra emotional for them as not only are they getting new teachers next year, but also a new school, new city, new friends. They were both in tears when they left. But, knowing that we were heading to CA, they recovered quickly. Here are some photos from the last day.

J's class cleaned their desks with shaving cream!

He won a few school awards this year. Reading Award (1.7 million words!); Math Award (Multiplication); and the Citizenship Pillar Award (for being a good citizen)
Alayna "graduated" from Kindergarten.  There was no ceremony, but her teacher took individual photos with caps on.

So, now we have a 4th Grader and a 1st Grader!  Wowsers!  And they get an extra long summer this year since Portland schools don't start until September 7th (our school in AZ starts 4 weeks before that).  Good thing they can actually play outside this summer!

Mother's Day

It was an uneventful day this year.  It was a little sad for me actually.  To be honest, the day has been bittersweet for me since Ezra passed away.  Its painful that I cannot share it with all my children.  And, on top of that, this year, I couldn't share it with Peter because he is in Portland.  So, yes, it was a little sad.

Also, since I had a final on Monday morning, I had to spend most of the day studying.  Not exactly what I would have chosen, but that is how it worked out.

The kids made me cute little gifts in school (Alayna's was a magnet with her picture, and Jeremiah's was a "Why I Love My Mom" book that he wrote).  They also made me homemade cards that morning before I got out of bed (they get up early, much earlier than I am ready to be up and about).  I also received a heartwarming card from Peter; he's so good at picking cards.  It said all the things I needed to hear this Mother's Day.  So, even though we didn't do anything "special", the day did not pass unnoticed.  They even sang to me "Happy Mother's Day" to the theme of "Happy Birthday".  It was quite adorable indeed.

I am so blessed to be a Mom.  And to have such a wonderful Mom.  Hope it was a Happy Mother's Day for everyone all around.
