ROCK Culmination

Well, after 12 long weeks, Jeremiah has completed his first Bible study!!! Our church had this wonderful program for Elementary kids and Jeremiah really wanted to do it, so we signed him up. I wasn't as enthusiastic about it because we have issues with homework time and attention span as it is, and I wanted him to enjoy reading God's word, as opposed to having it be just more homework for him to complete. Overall, though, it was a great experience for our family, and we will definitely sign him up again. Jeremiah really learned the importance of prayer. Not only its importance, but its power. He also memorized several verses, though not all the ones they were given to memorize. He got a kick out of highlighting in his Bible. The weekly lessons were in addition to Sunday school teaching, so he wasn't hearing the same thing several times a week (since we attend two separate services at the church on the weekends).

Last night, there was a culmination of sorts to mark the end of this session of ROCK. The kids got to have Chick-Fil-A for dinner and then parents and family were invited for treats and fun and games. Special certificates were given out and each child was rewarded for his/her efforts. Jeremiah got fourth place in homework points for the 1st graders! I'm not sure out of how many, but I know there were several 8-kid groups per grade. Unfortunately, I missed the fun due to colitis flare up, but Peter and Alayna went and took photos and video.

We are so proud of Jeremiah. We can only continue to guide him and show him by example how to be a follower of Christ. And pray that he will continue in his walk and a life devoted to the Lord.

Homemade Lemonade!

Thanks to my friend Audrey and her lemon trees, we have an abundance of fresh lemons on hand. Peter and the kids have been making fresh lemonade on almost a daily basis. The lemons are SUPER HUGE and it only takes 3-4 to make a pitcher of lemonade. The pitcher only lasts a day or two. It's sooooo yummy!!! Here are some photos from the fun.

Easter Sunday!

Rejoice, our Savior is Risen!

I LOVE Easter. This year was especially joyful because my best friend Betty came to town and helped us celebrate! We had an awesome weekend. Yesterday we all dyed eggs together (well, not Peter, he was at work) and watched a children's version of The Passion of the Christ (animated,no flogging or excessive violence--a little blood, but that had to be shown to emphasize Jesus's sacrifice). Us girls painted our nails. Of course, there was some Wii action. We attended 2 Easter services--Third Format and the contemporary Sunday one. Alayna had been waiting for weeks to wear her dress and she looks so beautiful in it! We had our hunt after church today and they had a blast. The weather was mild and gorgeous! A little windy for my taste, but enjoyable nonetheless. Dinner was Honey Ham, roasted red-potato salad, spicy green beans, baked beans, and (of course) Hawaiian rolls!! Desert was candy from the baskets (mmmm, Reese's Peanut Butter eggs). It was a fabulous day and we didn't forget to have a family praise and prayer time to remember our Lord Christ Jesus and His sacrifice for the atonement of our sins. He gives us life!!! Praise Him!

Hope you all had a wonderful celebration as well. God's blessings on you! :D
