Celebrating Peter and Some Exciting News!!!

What a week!  Kids were off on Monday and we took an impromptu road trip up Highway 1 with stops in Big Sur and Monterey.  Tuesday was Peter's birthday--we went out to lunch with Mike and Zabrina and then I made him Zuppa Toscana for dinner and lemon bars for his birthday treat (both from scratch!).  Something else also happened on Tuesday.  I got a letter from the nursing school I applied to.....and I've been ACCEPTED for Fall 2014!  It totally made my day, my week, my month, MY YEAR!  I went to Disneyland on Wednesday to celebrate.  On Friday, Peter's parents arrived for the weekend.  Hiking, beach time, and a trip to the Village.  There's no way I can post all the photos, as I took over 100 over the course of the week.  Selected 20 of my favorites to post here.  Happy Week!

The Big 12

Six Flags Magic Mountain (aka Wally World) was the destination choice of January's birthday boy.  We invited our friends - another father/son team - for a day of frivolity and heart pumping adrenaline rides!  We got there at the opening of the gates and left when the workers booted everyone out for the night.  It was a most excellent day thanks to short lines - on some rides we just stayed in our seat to immediately ride again.  Our guests were honestly a little roller coaster hesitant at first but then they got bit with the adrenaline bug.  It was a great day of celebrating J.
