Our New Adventure!

So, in the most recent posts, I've been hinting at an exciting prospect for our family -- a new home! Well, we bought one....right next door! Our house hunt lasted about 2 months. There is not a whole lot of inventory in our price range or in the neighborhoods we like. So, when the house next door went on the market, we discussed it as an option. We had to make several compromises (not a one story, no fourth bedroom/separate office, small yard), but, in the end, it makes the most sense for our family at this time. We closed on it yesterday, but won't be moving in until we paint and replace the flooring. Probably mid-to-late April. We are in a lease in the current rental until then anyway, so it all works out. Here are some "before" pics for posterity. I will post more after we've made our changes.

This is an exciting milestone for us. Home ownership in CA, especially on the Central Coast, is a difficult thing to achieve. We feel very fortunate for the opportunity and the means to do it. God is good!

February Round-up

This month, I took another Disney trip, we celebrated Peter's birthday, Peter's parents came to visit and we continued our house hunt (I promise, we will get to all that in an upcoming post!). The month flew by and we were as busy as ever. I mean, here it is, only 10 days left in March and I'm finally making time to write about all this stuff. Here is the February round-up in photos.

Jeremiah is FIFTEEN

A waaaay late post. I could come up with a handful of terrific reasons (re: excuses) why, but I won't. Life is busy, but it always has been. Let's face it. Blogging isn't something I prioritize anymore. But, I'm gonna keep it going.

Two months ago, Jeremiah turned 15. It was a fairly lackluster event. We got him an iPod touch for his birthday. He got his free burger from Sylvester's for lunch and requested Five Guys for dinner. My parents came to take him out to lunch the next day and he chose pizza. The following weekend, Peter took him and two friends bowling. (How original, I know! But, we're parenting teens now, so our days of birthday parties are over).

It's hard to believe in just three years, Jeremiah will be an adult. He's taking driver's ed this semester in school, and is hoping for a permit this summer. We decided we need to see a little more responsibility and maturity before we let that happen. Time will tell. These days, Jeremiah is really into computer coding, wants to learn to surf and is still a very avid reader. He's into anime/manga, which is tricky because some of it is super inappropriate and Peter and I don't follow know much about it to be able to discern what he can and cannot read. He's still too smart for his own good and impulsive and unpredictable. Even at 15, still keeping us on our toes. He's planning to start taking online college classes at Cuesta in 10th grade. Hard to believe we're already having all these college talks. Time is flying. With Jeremiah's current plan, it looks like we won't be saying the long goodbye until Grad school, but you never know. He's got ambitions and he's aiming high. He just needs the self-discipline to follow through.

Happy 15th Birthday, J-man. Keep rising to the occasion!

January Happenings

A trip to Santa Cruz, a Five Iron Frenzy show and another trip to Universal Studios, and that's about it. I worked a LOOOOT in January and so did Peter, so there wasn't a whole lot of time for anything else. We did start house hunting during that month. More to come on that later, though. Wrap up in photos follows.

It rained pretty much the entire weekend we were in SC. But, still as pretty as ever!
