Happy 18th Birthday, Alayna!

And, just like that, we have two adult children! Alayna is an absolute joy. What a privilege its been to parent this amazing human. She has always been wise beyond the earthly years, and continues to amaze us with that wisdom; as well as with the kindness and sensitivity with which she embraces life. We love watching Alayna pursue her goals with leaps and bounds.

On the day itself, a school day with finals the next, my parents came up for games and dinner and cheesecake for dessert. The weekend after, she opted for a small celebration with her friends to go out to dinner. It was all quintessential Alayna.

May, June and July of 2022

Summer is almost upon us, and we aren't going to waste a single minute!  May included a trip to San Diego for me, more Disneyland, and the bathroom renovations was finally finished!

June meant my birthday as well as dropping Alayna off at UC Santa Cruz for a summer program for high school students. She was taking two classes and both apply toward her college credits. Between those and her AP classes, Alayna will essentially be a sophomore when she starts college next Fall. So darn proud of this kid!

July was interesting, as Peter and I were empty nesters. Peter had a back packing trip with his brother and two friends. We celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary with a staycation in Cambria. My cousins came to visit. And, I visited Santa Cruz once to visit Alayna. Peter picked her up after her 5 week program was complete.
