Two months ago, Jeremiah turned 15. It was a fairly lackluster event. We got him an iPod touch for his birthday. He got his free burger from Sylvester's for lunch and requested Five Guys for dinner. My parents came to take him out to lunch the next day and he chose pizza. The following weekend, Peter took him and two friends bowling. (How original, I know! But, we're parenting teens now, so our days of birthday parties are over).
It's hard to believe in just three years, Jeremiah will be an adult. He's taking driver's ed this semester in school, and is hoping for a permit this summer. We decided we need to see a little more responsibility and maturity before we let that happen. Time will tell. These days, Jeremiah is really into computer coding, wants to learn to surf and is still a very avid reader. He's into anime/manga, which is tricky because some of it is super inappropriate and Peter and I don't follow know much about it to be able to discern what he can and cannot read. He's still too smart for his own good and impulsive and unpredictable. Even at 15, still keeping us on our toes. He's planning to start taking online college classes at Cuesta in 10th grade. Hard to believe we're already having all these college talks. Time is flying. With Jeremiah's current plan, it looks like we won't be saying the long goodbye until Grad school, but you never know. He's got ambitions and he's aiming high. He just needs the self-discipline to follow through.
Happy 15th Birthday, J-man. Keep rising to the occasion!
