Yes, our "other" home. It was SO GOOD to be back. We slipped right back into the thick of things and it was almost like we had never left. Until Tuesday morning when we had to pack up the car and leave. Four days (five for me) was too short. Next year (because, yes, this will be an annual trip), we will try for 5 full days. It rained most of the trip, but that was a-ok with us. It spoiled our hiking plans (we let the kids have a massive playdate with their friends, so WINNING) and our plans to browse the Saturday market with Aunt Jill (we spent 3 hours in Powell's Books and had lunch downtown, so again, WINNING), but it was a refreshing change from the constant 70º-75º weather. It was great to see all of my nursing friends and watch them get pinned (yes, a little bittersweet for me). And we got to hang with our old neighbors and with our home community family as though we hadn't been gone for 10 months. And, oh, to worship with Imago Dei on Sunday morning--that was just rejuvenating to the soul. We're so grateful to have friends and my sister open their homes to us, which made it a very affordable visit. Next year, we hope to add a day of overnight camping, and perhaps one extra night with whoever will take us. Until 2015, here is a look at our visit in photos. (I took over 200, so narrowing it down to these was tough!)
I took the train down and got to see a gorgeous sunset and sunrise
(No edit on this one!)
