Summer: Week 4

July 2 - 8

On Monday morning, Jeremiah and I took a bike ride (while Alayna was at SUN), so I could enjoy some one-on-one time with him before putting him on a plane to CA.  The afternoon was spent running errands (including a TB test and the first in a series of vaccinations I need to start the nursing program this Fall).  On Tuesday, it was time to send Jeremiah off to the Bay area to hang with his grandparents (you've already read about that).  That night, we had dinner with the neighbors and Alayna had a sleepever there (while Peter and I had a "date" of grocery shopping and a movie at home).  For the 4th, she and I had fun baking cupcakes, painting our nails in patriotic colors, and playing different games at home.  Then, once Peter came home from work, we headed to Aunt Jill's for BBQ fun.  On Thursday, Alayna had her last morning at SUN and then she had a play date with the neighbor, followed by an evening/night with Home Community.  On Friday (while I was taking a CPR class), she had fun with Daddy at a park and then a trip to OMSI.  That afternoon, Alayna and I played games, had some fun at Mt. Tabor park, and had a movie night (Peter worked 3-11).  On Saturday, we had a mellow morning (slept in until 9:30!  That's what happens when our early bird is away), did some errands, Alayna had a playdate, we played outside, went to Rocky Butte, and then I saw a movie with a friend while Peter and Alayna went and saw another friend in a bike race.  And finally, on Sunday, after church, we did the Farmer's Market and then caught up on some household chores and spent some time with the neighbors.  All through the week, Alayna was diligent about practicing piano every day, and she even "composed" a couple original tunes.  She was also reading a lot and working in her 2nd grade math workbook.  It was a very joyous week and we loved all of the one-on-one time with Alayna.
